Privacy Policy.
The short version
We collect no accounts, no personal information, and no login credentials. Your location data never leaves your device. If you opt into training model improvement, detection images are uploaded anonymously with all metadata stripped. MorelHunter runs on your device. We don't have an account system, we don't sync your data to any cloud, and your saved spots never leave your phone unless you deliberately export them.
01 What we do not collect
MorelHunter is designed to collect as little as possible. Specifically, the following never leave your device:
- GPS coordinates for your saved spots. Stored locally only.
- Camera footage. The detection model processes frames on-device and discards them immediately.
- Photos you take with the shutter button. They save to your system camera roll under your control — we don't see them.
- Identity information. There are no accounts, email sign-ups, or social logins.
02 What may be collected — only with your consent
Training Model Improvement (opt-in)
If you toggle Submit detection images anonymously on in Settings, a sample of images the model has flagged will be uploaded to improve future detection. Before upload:
- Trigger: Only images where a detection occurred are ever submitted, not every camera frame
- EXIF stripping: All image metadata is removed before upload, including GPS coordinates, device model, timestamp, and any other embedded data
- No identifiers: Images are stored under a random UUID with no user ID, device ID, account, or IP address linked to them
- Image file only: Only the JPEG image bytes are transmitted, no associated data
- Storage: Firebase Storage (Google Cloud) in anonymous, write-only buckets
- Opt-out: Disable the toggle in Settings at any time. No images are submitted while disabled.
This setting is off by default. You can turn it off at any time and future detections will no longer be submitted.
03No Accounts or Personal Information
Morel Hunter requires no account, login, email address, phone number, or any personally identifiable information. We do not collect, store, or process any PII at any point.
04 Analytics & tracking
MorelHunter does not embed third-party analytics SDKs, ad networks, or tracking pixels. There is no Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, no Facebook SDK. Apple's standard App Store download metrics apply and are controlled by Apple — we see aggregate download counts only.
05 Permissions we ask for
- Camera — required for detection and for taking photos.
- Location (while using) — required so you can tag a saved spot with coordinates. We do not track location in the background.
- Photo library (add-only) — so tapping the shutter can save a photo to your camera roll.
You can revoke any of these at any time in iOS Settings → MorelHunter. The app degrades gracefully: revoke location and you can still detect and shoot photos; revoke photos and you can still detect.
06 Children
MorelHunter is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and note material changes on this page. Because we don't have your email, we can't notify you individually — check back here.
